Potocco narrates a new story of tailor-made design

Every project by Potocco is born from the dialogue and the meeting of ideas, materials, and expertise. With a know-how refined over more than a century, the company transforms each client’s vision into a unique piece of contemporary design, overseeing every stage in-house: from concept analysis to prototype development, right through to final production.

The collaboration with Architect & Friends, the studio founded by Michael and Johanna Atzenhofer, is a perfect example of this bespoke approach to design. The two architects chose Potocco to create a dining armchair or the two-Michelin-starred Restaurant Döllerer in Golling an der Salzach, Austria, set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Alpine foothills.

Starting from the architects’ sketches, Potocco’s technical team developed 3D models and prototypes, refining every detail to achieve the perfect balance of comfort, functionality, and elegance. Thanks to an integrated and highly specialized production chain, the company guarantees exceptional quality, strict adherence to deadlines and continuous support throughout the whole process. As Architect & Friends explain:The great advantage of working with Potocco is that every stage of this project was carried out in-house. This means that everyone who is involved knows the product from the very beginning. Moreover, the brand’s efficiency in production and communication allowed us to work with remarkable agility.”

The result is a custom armchair designed to accompany guests during the restaurant’s tasting experience, combining comfort, elegance, and meticulous attention to detail. Its design draws inspiration from the Döllerer family’s history, which began as a butcher shop in 1909: the armrests recall the shape of a knife blade, while the leather back strap evokes traditional work aprons — a refined balance between memory and modernity. “This dining armchair,” continue Architect & Friends, “was conceived to adapt naturally to different settings: a piece that does not seek to dominate, but to enhance the atmosphere around it.”

A project that reflects Potocco’s ability to meet the most specific requirements, offering tailor-made solutions that embody the excellence of Italian design and craftsmanship.
